[Doxey] Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam, 1900, Doxey's At the Sign of
the Lark
Potter 240
Illustrated by Florence Lundbourg; Lundbourg was an artist for
The Lark
- a periodical published by Doxey while he was in San Francisco. This book
is bound in green cloth with a wonderful silhouette of a tree. The binding
and French fold pages are identical to the 1894 Vedder Rubaiyat; the size,
the bevels on the covers, and the texture of the paper are all identical.
I have seen a smaller paper over boards edition of this book. I personally
like the artwork in the Vedder Rubaiyat more than the artwork in this book,
but I think the cover of this book is nicer than the Vedder. This book is
much more scarce than the Vedder; I probably see six or seven Vedder Rubaiyats for
every one of these.
